Hands on NY Day – April 16

You are invited to join the combined Rotary clubs of NYC Hands on New York Day team. We will be painting, sanding, picking up debris, planting, mulching, spreading wood chips, clearing leaves from fence lines, and repainting various park benches, picnic tables and trash cans in Van Cortlandt Park. The park is easily accessible by taking the #1 train to 242st/Van Cortlandt Park. We will be working in the area of the park near the entrance/exit of the subway.
To participate in this event, simply get to the park by 930am on Saturday, April 16 with your $20 registration fee! We will finish working around 3pm that day.
Please, do not bring large bags or valuables to the park as there is no place to store them. Bring your lunch and lots of water. There are lots of delis and other places to purchase food along Broadway and nearby. Volunteers should wear clothes they don’t mind getting dirt or paint on and closed toe shoes.
About Hands on New York Day
HONY is a day of service in cooperation with New York Cares to prepare New York City parks and gardens for summer by gardening, weeding, painting fences and benches, and more. This is always a great day out and a wonderful opportunity to work with our fellow Rotarians doing some hands-on work in our community. There is a $20 mandatory (tax deductible) donation that helps cover the cost of supplies for the day, as well as funding for the many other projects that occur throughout the year at New York Cares.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about this event.
