Last year RCWSNY proposed a candidate, Lucia Alcantara, for the prestigious Rotary World Peace Scholar program sponsored by the Rotary Foundation.
After going through a difficult and long application process on the club, district, and eventually global level, we were informed that Lucia was accepted into the program for Summer 2011 in Bangkok, Thailand. Not only is this a major achievement for our new World Peace Scholar Lucia, it is also a tremendous honor for our club. The program is highly competitive and only a few applicants are admitted every year.
