Eye Care, Rotary Club, and India

Please join Rotary Club of Wall Street New York on Wednesday, 4/27/2011 at the Downtown Association in welcoming Mr. Edwin Futa, General Secretary and Chief Operating Officer of Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation, as a special guest and Veronica Ruelas, OD, as our weekly speaker.
About Mr. Edwin Futa:
Mr. Ed Futa leads a diverse and educated staff of more than 650 at Rotary’s World Headquarters in Evanston, Illinois, and international offices in various cities throughout the world from Buenos Aires, Argentina to Seoul, Korea. He comes from Honolulu, Hawaii, where he was president of an international marketing consulting firm and has served on the Board of Governors of the YMCA.
About the speaker:
Dr. Veronica Ruelas graduated from New York School of Optometry and has traveled numerous times to Peru, India, and Brazil conducting free eye clinics and various volunteer missions. During her eye clinic missions, she experienced firsthand at how local Rotary clubs play such a vital role in delivering eye care to the local villagers. In 2009, she began the process of forming Saumya Kashi Rotary Club in Uttarkashi, India, which was chartered in May 2010. Presently, Dr. Ruelas with Saumya Kashi Rotary Club, has been involved in eye camp mission and has formed foundation for a new surgical clinic to perform cataract surgeries, which will be finished within the next 6 months.
