Happy Holidays with Nazareth Housing

Thanks to all who came out to help with Nazareth Housing’s annual holiday party! A great time was had by all, serving dinner, helping Santa hand out gifts and making take-home crafts with the kiddos. This was RCWS’s 7th year attending this party, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to serve our NYC neighbors through this event!

Don’t forget to sign up for our final meeting of the year – a social fundraiser to benefit a primary school in St. Maarten damaged by Hurricane Irma. Tickets include light hors d’oeuvres and two drinks!

Thanks to all who helped at Nazareth Housing’s annual holiday party!

In case you missed it, here are a few little clips of Santa who was kind enough to take time out of his busy schedule to attend!

Let’s keep the festive spirit going with a holiday party of our own this Wednesday at 6:00 PM at Bavaria Bierhaus. Please sign up and purchase your tickets here.

Giving Tuesday

Happy Giving Tuesday, the kickoff to the holiday giving period and a great day to continue giving thanks! Help support us as we provide dinner, crafts, gifts and a special visit from Santa at Nazareth Housing’s annual Holiday Party. Your generous donation helps us provide food and craft supplies so everyone attending the party can have a delicious meal and every child can make a craft to take home.

A gift of $5 provides one meal. A gift of $25 provides supplies to make 100 candy cane reindeer. A gift of $100 provides arts & crafts supplies for all children attending the party, plus 15 dinners.

So, will you be a Stocking Stuffer, a Little Drummer Boy/Girl or Santa’s Helper this year?!

(Donations made via this PayPal link will go to our Club, which is a 501c4 nonprofit organization, and are not tax-deductible.)

Nazareth Housing Holiday Party 2013

Each year, RCWSNY members volunteer at the Nazareth Housing holiday party for formerly homeless children and youth and their parents. Members serve food, work at craft tables and help Santa deliver toys that we donate to the children at the party!

The party is on Friday, December 13 from 5-9pm.

Location:
The Spellman Building
137 East 2nd Street
Basement/Lower Level

Please sign up if you are able to volunteer!

Only 25 volunteers are needed for this event, so members will be given priority for registration. If you are a friend of the club or guest and want to volunteer, please submit your info below and we will contact you if there are any spots open.

New IT equipment donated to Nazareth Housing

The Rotary Club of Wall Street is pleased to announce that we are supporting the Nazareth Housing with a project that updated their aging IT infrastructure by providing new technology including desktop and laptop computers, printers and software, for both its administrative and case management offices as well as the Nazareth Housing’s Center for Learning and Self Sufficiency (CLASS).

The IT equipment has been configured and is now installed in the Nazareth Housing offices and the CLASS center. All over you see staff with big smiles on their faces as they enjoy the super fast speeds of their new IT equipment! Father Michael Callaghan, the Executive Director of Nazareth Housing, expressed his sincere gratitude to all Rotarians involved in the project! The “star” of their new equipment is the MS Surface convertible PC/tablet, which they might use to register attendees at the NH’s Annual Benefit event next week, at which the RC of Wall Street will receive the NH’s community service award, alongside Cardinal Dolan.

The project is made possible by way of a matching grant from the Rotary Foundation. The Rotary Club of Wall Street has partnered with the Rotary Clubs of Hartsdale and Pleasantville (both Westchester NY), the Rotary Club of Cornwall Sunrise (Ontario, Canada), as well as Rotary Districts 7040, 7240 (Eastern Canada) and 1880 (South East Germany), all of which contributed to the base funds for this grant. The money provided by the Rotary Club of Wall Street were funds that our club has received from many generous individuals, Rotarians and non-Rotarians, in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

This week Rotarians from District 1880 joined RC Wall street to visit Nazareth Housing & Bowery Mission.

As part of our ongoing partnership with Nazareth Housing, we will begin a service project this fall that includes computer literacy courses for low income families, using the new equipment installed as part of this project.

Ongoing Sandy Relief

The Rotary Club of Wall Street is pleased to announce that we are supporting the Nazareth Housing as part of our club’s ongoing Lower East Side Hurricane Sandy relief activities with a project that is valued close to US$ 25,000.

We will assist Nazareth Housing with updating their aging IT infrastructure by providing new technology including desktop and laptop computers, printers and software, for both its administrative and case management offices as well as the Nazareth Housing’s Center for Learning and Self Sufficiency (CLASS).
